Sailing is a childhood passion for Ivan Simeon. Growing up on the shores of Lake Geneva, he spent his early years sailing Laser dinghies, long before picking up a camera professionally. That personal connection to the lake resurfaced years later through editorial coverage of flagship races on Lake Geneva, from events hosted by the Société Nautique de Genève, the Bol d'Or du Léman, the largest inland lake regatta in the world, and the International Six Metre class, whose European and World Championships bring together some of the most storied classic and modern racing yachts in the sport, to the Rolex Switzerland Sail Grand Prix, the newest addition to the lake's sailing calendar.
The approach favoured here departs from conventional regatta photography. Rather than tight, action-driven crops, the studio favours compositions that place each yacht within its full environment, the lake, the surrounding mountains, and the specific quality of Geneva light, alongside behind-the-scenes coverage of preparation on land. The result is a body of work built for editorial and press use, aimed at magazines, yacht clubs, and sponsors seeking imagery that stands apart from the generic action photography common to the sport.

International Six Metre European Championship, Geneva, July 2026
Commissioned for magazine press, this series covers the 2026 Six Metre European Championship, hosted by the Société Nautique de Genève from July 19 to 24, with Banque Heritage as principal co-sponsor. Nearly fifty crews from Switzerland, Spain, Finland, Great Britain, Germany, Greece, Italy, Norway, and the United States competed on Lake Geneva in two divisions, Classic, for yachts built before 1966, and Open, for contemporary designs.
Rolex Switzerland Sail Grand Prix, Geneva, September 2025
In September 2025, Lake Geneva hosted the inaugural Rolex Switzerland Sail Grand Prix, the first freshwater stop on the Rolex SailGP Championship calendar. Rather than isolating the F50 foiling catamarans in tight action frames, this series places them within the city itself, the Jet d'Eau, the quays, and the Alps in the background, a choice that grounds the world's fastest sailing series in the specific identity of Geneva and its rade.
ITA43 Dan, International Six Metre European Championship, Geneva, July 2026
Produced as part of an editorial series for the international press, this feature follows ITA43 Dan, built in 1930 by Norwegian naval architect Bjarne Aas, one of the most prolific designers in the class's history. Among the oldest yachts to have raced at the 2026 European Championship, Dan was sailed by Andrea Bianchedi for the Yacht Club Italiano. According to her crew, the yacht once belonged to King Christian X of Denmark, before being sunk and later recovered and restored after the Second World War.Nearly a century after her launch,
Dan rounded the windward mark in third place on several occasions during the week, including in the deciding race of the Classic Championship, ahead of considerably younger yachts, until a mast failure slowed her progress. This series follows that story on the water, and on land, where a crew member is seen climbing the mast beneath the Société Nautique de Genève's boat crane to attempt a repair.
Bol d'Or du Léman, May 2026
Commissioned for magazine press, this series covers the Bol d'Or du Léman, the iconic sailing regatta organised by the Société Nautique de Genève - Geneva Yacht Club. Where most photographers focused on close-up action shots of competing vessels or official tents, the artistic direction here pursued a different path: building a coherent visual narrative anchored in the depth and stillness of blue, capturing the regatta as a living extension of Lake Geneva itself. The defining image of the series was not a boat at full speed, but a group portrait of the four key figures behind the event. An initiative taken by the photographer, and a moment no other lens captured that day. Pictures made month of May 2026.
